The Importance of Trying New Things
It has been three months since I have been working from home. A global pandemic has wreaked havoc on life as we know it.
I am managing a team, on non-stop Zoom calls and doing my best to get through my lists and work through understanding what people want and what they ultimately need. It has been challenging.
In addition to that, I have been in deep mourning over the murder of George Floyd. If I am honest, this was not shocking at all. It was just really blatant. I am a black woman who is inspired by grace, faith, heart, order and peace. By default, I have always had to operate outside of my comfort zone because the world was not made for me.
I am involved, engaged and deeply motivated to change the world to be the world as it should be. One of the things that I do every day is go out for a walk, which has been one of the new things I tried. It is really important to be trying new things as I go through the pandemic. I am not sure when this will be over. Another thing I did was enter a poetry/prose contest. I wrote a selection and hope that I win.
I changed my website around. I am interviewing different women in the second season of my podcast.
I applied for a grant. I am taking a barre class in the morning available at the virtual YMCA. I am still working to finish my Udemy classes and figuring out how to do better videos. In these times, it is important for me to get my curiosity fix. I still shout out my team during staff meetings. I still feel like I am making small ripples of movement.
I do know that I want to come out of this better and brighter. I want to be stronger and more wise. If I continue on this path, I am hopeful that I will.
